How to prevent clogging and scaling in wastewater evaporators?

    How to prevent clogging and scaling in wastewater evaporators? There are two causes of clogging and scaling in wastewater evaporators: one is the deposition of crystalline salts, and the other is the calcium and magnesium ions. Therefore, the two aspects shall be addressed to prevent the clogging and the scaling:

    1. a right type of evaporator is the fundamental in preventing clogging and scaling. For situations which are prone to crystallization, thin film type evaporators like falling film evaporators are not suitable, if thin film evaporators are adopted in these situations, clogging is inevitable. And forced circulation evaporators or scraper film evaporators should be used, and among them, forced circulation evaporators are more recommended because of larger evaporation area and easy to operate.

    2. the reasonable design of the pipeline is also an important factor in reducing clogging and scaling. The pipeline should be designed without dead corners and should conform to the principles of salt flow and deposition, ensuring that all crystalline salts are collected in the salt collector and discharged from the salt outlet.

    If the scaling is caused by calcium and magnesium ions, the following measures can be taken:

    1. The input wastewater can be softened to reduce the content of calcium and magnesium ions;

    2. A forced circulation evaporator can be chosen;

    3. Anti-scaling agents can be used to prevent scaling;

    4. The evaporator can be cleaned regularly.
